KINNAUR

Bordering Tibet, Kinnaur is known for its dramatic landscapes, ancient traditions, and apple orchards. The district is famous for the sacred Kinnaur Kailash. Important temples include the Bhimakali Temple and the Narayan-Nagini Temple at Kalpa. There are also ancient Buddhist monasteries such as Ropa Monastery and Labrang Monastery. Picturesque destinations include Kalpa, Sangla Valley, Chitkul, and Nako Lake, one of the state’s most beautiful high-altitude lakes.
